Wedding DJ at Kin House
Can I have a wedding DJ at Kin House?
Yes. Kilvert Hall, in a separate wing of the house, is the party space for up to 200 guests, with a bar and dance floor, and I bring a clean DJ booth, professional sound and programmed lighting. Evening is from £1,150, the full day from £1,750, and a music consultation is included either way.
Kin House feels more like an incredible private party than a conventional wedding venue. It's a Grade II*-listed Georgian manor on the edge of Kington Langley, set among walled gardens and private woodland, and it's a venue where the details matter.

How do you plan the music for a Kin House wedding?
Kin House weddings have a slightly different rhythm to many of the larger Cotswolds venues. By the evening it can feel like a very good private house party. Before the wedding we talk about the music you love, the tracks that mean something to you and anything you’d rather avoid. Send as much direction as you like: a long Spotify playlist, or twenty tracks and a do-not-play list.
On the night I combine those choices with reading the room. That might mean soul, disco, funk, indie, R&B, garage, house, Ibiza classics or 80s and 90s favourites. I’d rather respond to the people in front of me than decide weeks ahead what plays at 10.45pm.
How does the music run through a wedding day at Kin House?
With the All-day package, one DJ looks after the whole soundtrack: ceremony music, the drinks reception, background music through the wedding breakfast, a wireless microphone for speeches, then the evening party. All-day starts from £1,750, and we plan each part together beforehand.
Ceremony
Whether it's the Hearth Room, the Garden House or the Arbour by the walled garden, music for guest arrival, your entrance, signing and ceremony exit is planned beforehand and timed carefully on the day.
Drinks reception
Soul, funk, acoustic edits, Balearic and laid-back house, leaving plenty of space for conversation.
Wedding breakfast & speeches
Background music that leaves room for conversation and a wireless microphone for the speeches.
Cocktail hour
The music gradually lifts towards disco, funk and feel-good favourites as the evening begins.
The evening party
Kilvert Hall, with its bar and dance floor, becomes the heart of the party. An open-format, properly mixed set built around your guests.
Can we add live sax at Kin House?
Yes, and it works with Evening or All-day. At Kin House I'd be particularly tempted to use sax during the drinks reception and then bring it back later once the party is established. Over the top of the set, the saxophonist improvises on selected tracks without the music stopping, and it’s at its best with house, disco, funk and Ibiza classics. The fee varies by date.
What does your setup look like at Kin House?
Kin House is very design-conscious, so I'd approach the equipment accordingly. I don't think a carefully designed room should suddenly be filled with black speaker stands, cables and a huge lighting rig. My setup is intentionally clean and compact, with a smart DJ booth and programmed lighting that's used when it's actually needed.
An upgraded lighting package with 10 wireless uplighters is also available, adding warmth around the space without trailing cables.
How much is a wedding DJ at Kin House?
Evening from £1,150 covers up to five hours. All-day from £1,750 adds the ceremony, drinks and dinner music. Sax can go on top of either and is priced to your date, and both come with a music consultation.

What do couples say?
Two couples from Cotswolds weddings, at Ivy Lodge and Cripps Barn, in their own words from Google.
If you are thinking of booking Alistair do not hesitate!!! He is the perfect DJ - our wedding music was really important to us, we shared a playlist with him to work with and he totally exceeded expectations. He played everything we asked for and loads more whilst sticking to the brief. He has also been super chilled from the moment we reached out, communication has always been easy, even during my frantic wedding planning moments. Thank you so much Alistair 😊

Alistair was the DJ for our wedding in the Cotswolds. He has been incredible and very accommodating with all our requests. He threw an amazing party and everyone loved the music. Our guests had an amazing evening and were on the dance floor all night.
I wanted to play some romanian music for 30 minutes and he was very accommodating with that.
I don't think you can go wrong choosing him!

Who is Alistair Rutherford?
Alistair Rutherford, resident DJ at Soho Farmhouse (Soho House). I’ve worked professionally for more than ten years, DJing luxury weddings, private parties and events across the UK and abroad. I mix open-format, so a night at Kin House sounds like your crowd rather than a standard wedding playlist, and you won’t get cheesy routines or someone talking over the music.
