Wedding DJ Cheltenham

The short answer

Can I book a luxury wedding DJ near Cheltenham?

Yes. I'm Alistair Rutherford, a Cotswolds wedding DJ and a resident DJ at Soho Farmhouse, and Cheltenham sits right in the middle of the area I cover. Evening packages start from £1,150 and all-day from £1,750, and live sax can be added to either. Every package includes a music consultation and access to my private online planning portal.

Cheltenham couples often marry in town, at a Regency hotel or a grand hall, then dance in the countryside, or the other way round. Some of the best venues on my patch are a short drive from the Promenade, out across the Severn Vale or up into the hills.

Close to town

Which venues near Cheltenham do you know?

Four of my venue guides are within about half an hour of the town. Elmore Court is west, towards the River Severn, and I've DJed there, so I know how the day moves from the house and gardens into The Gillyflower. Cowley Manor is the closest, just south of town in the hills.

Head south-east towards Cirencester and you reach Ivy Lodge in Cirencester Park, where I've performed, and Old Gore Barn at Fosse Cross. I've played a number of Old Gore weddings, with its own Funktion-One sound and a midnight finish.

In town

What about weddings in Cheltenham itself?

Cheltenham has its own well-known wedding venues, from Regency rooms such as Pittville Pump Room and Cheltenham Town Hall to country-house hotels on the edge of town like Ellenborough Park, Glenfall House and Manor by the Lake. Each has its own rules on setup times, sound levels and finish times.

If your venue isn't one of my guides, send me the name when you check your date. I'll ask the venue for its music rules early, so there are no surprises on the night.

Your music

How do we plan the music?

We start with a music consultation. You tell me what you love, what means something to you and what you'd rather never hear. Then you add tracks, must-plays and do-not-plays in my private online planning portal, as much or as little as you like.

On the night I mix those choices with reading the room: soul, disco, funk, house, R&B, garage, Ibiza classics and 80s and 90s favourites.

All-day weddings

Can one DJ cover the whole day?

Yes. With the All-day package I look after ceremony music, the drinks reception, background music through the wedding breakfast, a wireless microphone for speeches, and then the evening party. That suits Cheltenham couples who marry in one place and celebrate in another, as the music stays in one pair of hands.

DJ x Sax

Can we add live sax?

Yes. Live sax can be added to the Evening or All-day package. The saxophonist plays over selected tracks while the music keeps flowing, and it works best with house, disco, funk and Ibiza classics. The fee depends on your date.

The Carters · Elmore Court

★★★★★

If you are thinking of booking Alistair do not hesitate!!! He is the perfect DJ - our wedding music was really important to us, we shared a playlist with him to work with and he totally exceeded expectations. He played everything we asked for and loads more whilst sticking to the brief. He has also been super chilled from the moment we reached out, communication has always been easy, even during my frantic wedding planning moments. Thank you so much Alistair 😊

Catherine Sawyer · Ivy Lodge

★★★★★

We couldn’t recommend Alistair highly enough. He delivered the perfect soundtrack to our wedding day and night. His track selection was bang on, keeping the energy on the dancefloor from start to finish 🙌

Top guy and absolutely superb DJ 👏

Thank you!

Questions

What else do Cheltenham couples ask?

How much does a wedding DJ cost?

With me, Evening starts from £1,150 and All-day from £1,750. Your quote depends on your date, timings and whether you add sax.

How much is a wedding DJ per hour?

I price by package, not by the hour. Evening covers up to five hours of music, and All-day covers the ceremony through to the last song.

Should we book a DJ or a band?

A DJ gives you the original recordings of the songs you love, any genre, and no long breaks between sets. If you want a live element, DJ x Sax gives you both.

Do you cover venues in Cheltenham town?

Yes. I cover Cheltenham and the surrounding Cotswolds and Gloucestershire. Tell me your venue when you check your date.

Do you bring your own equipment?

Yes. I bring the DJ booth, professional sound and programmed lighting. All-day adds a wireless daytime system, a microphone for speeches and 10 wireless uplighters.

How far ahead should we book?

Peak Saturdays often book two to three years ahead, so it's worth asking as soon as you have a date and a venue.
