Can I have a wedding DJ at Lapstone Barn?
Yes. Lapstone Barn’s own sound system covers ceremony, drinks reception and wedding breakfast music, and the venue recommends booking a band or DJ for the evening. I bring a clean DJ booth, professional sound and programmed lighting. It’s £1,150 upwards for the evening and £1,750 upwards for the full day, and each booking begins with a music consultation.
Lapstone Barn is a Grade II listed, 18th-century Cotswold barn near Chipping Campden in the North Cotswolds. Having performed at Lapstone Barn, I know the venue and how the atmosphere changes once dinner finishes and everyone is ready to party.

How do you plan the music for a Lapstone Barn wedding?
There isn't a Lapstone Barn playlist. And there definitely isn't an ARDJ list of songs that gets played at every wedding. Before the wedding we talk about the music you love, the tracks that mean something to you and anything you’d rather avoid. Send as much direction as you like: a long Spotify playlist, or twenty tracks and a do-not-play list.
On the night I combine those choices with reading the room. That might mean soul, disco, funk, indie, R&B, garage, house, Ibiza classics or 80s and 90s favourites. I’d rather respond to the people in front of me than decide weeks ahead what plays at 10.45pm.
How does the music run through a wedding day at Lapstone Barn?
If you’d like one DJ for the whole day, the All-day package covers ceremony, drinks, dinner and the party. With the All-day package, one DJ looks after the whole soundtrack: ceremony music, the drinks reception, background music through the wedding breakfast, a wireless microphone for speeches, then the evening party. All-day starts from £1,750, and we plan each part together beforehand.

Can we add live sax at Lapstone Barn?
You can, on Evening or All-day. Rather than a separate set, the sax player improvises over tracks I’ve picked while the mix carries on, and house, disco, funk and Ibiza classics are where it really works. The price varies with the date.
What does your setup look like at Lapstone Barn?
Lapstone Barn doesn't need to be filled with unnecessary equipment. The Cotswold stone, timber and character of the building should remain part of the room. My setup is deliberately clean and understated: a stylish DJ booth, professional sound and programmed lighting designed to suit the barn rather than dominate it.
An upgraded lighting package with 10 wireless uplighters is also available, adding warmth around the space without trailing cables.
How much is a wedding DJ at Lapstone Barn?
At Lapstone Barn, Evening runs from £1,150 for up to five hours. If you’d like me for the ceremony, drinks and dinner as well, All-day starts at £1,750. Sax is an optional extra on either, quoted for your date. You get a music consultation whichever you choose.

I’m Alistair Rutherford, resident DJ at Soho Farmhouse (Soho House). For more than ten years I’ve played luxury weddings, private parties and events across the UK and abroad.
